Buffalo Voter Research
Unite NY
In June, Unite NY surveyed 409 registered voters in Buffalo, New York.
Our polling shows that Buffalo voters want change in the city’s election system, with strong support for open primaries, expanded ballot access, and reforms that would give voters more say in local government.
Key Findings:
- Open Primaries: Two-thirds of Buffalo voters support open primaries, with majorities believing that open primaries would give voters more say (60%) and make elections more fair (59%).
- Ballot Access: An overwhelming majority of voters believe that the number of signatures required for independent candidates should be the same as (65%) or lower than (23%) their major party counterparts.
- RCV: Around half (51%) of Buffalo voters believe RCV will give voters more say, and that it will make elections more fair (47%).
