November 4, 2026
Little Falls, NY — Unite NY released the following statement from Executive Director Anthony Thomas following voters' approval of term limits for the Onondaga County Executive and County Comptroller and the creation of an Election Reforms Task Force in Buffalo:
“Today is a victory for Onondaga County and Buffalo voters and a step toward more accountable and responsive local government.
Onondaga County voters approved term limits for the County Executive and County Comptroller, helping ensure that elected officials focus on serving the people they represent rather than holding onto political power indefinitely.
Similarly, Buffalo voters approved the creation of an Election Reforms Task Force, making it clear that voters want the conversation about electoral reform to continue. This victory also underscores the importance of ensuring that the task force delivers meaningful progress—not just another round of discussions.
Victories like these demonstrate support for electoral reforms that give New Yorkers more voices and more choices. Unite NY looks forward to building on this momentum across New York State.”
