Martin Babinec

Founder & Board Member

Martin Babinec founded Silicon Valley Based HR solutions platform TriNet (NYSE: TNET) in 1988, serving as CEO for the company’s first 20 years through retiring from the Board of Directors in 2022. He played a pivotal role in guiding TriNet’s growth from startup to the first billion in revenue.


In 1999, Babinec relocated his family from Silicon Valley to his hometown of Little Falls, NY, where he founded several non profit organizations and in 2016 ran as an independent candidate in New York’s 22nd Congressional District. Advocating both reform policies and private sector engagement to spur job growth, the race earned national recognition as the only congressional race in which an independent candidate was competitive.

He founded Unite NY in 2021 and continues to help grow the organization to be the leading coalition powering democracy reform across New York State.

Martin also founded and leads UpVentures Holdings – a family of trusted, human centric businesses and non-profits that invests in cash flowing lower middle market companies, emerging tech startups, hospitality businesses and real estate. Martin leads social impact initiatives through his family’s UpMobility Foundation and non-profits he founded and serves as a director include Upstate Venture Connect, Entrepreneurs Across Borders, and Unite NY.

Other volunteer roles include serving on the Board of Directors for Endeavor Northeast, a National Judge in EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year program, and founder/co-chair of IPI’s Family Office Impact Network.

He is a past recipient of the SVBJ Silicon Valley Entrepreneur of the Year award and is author of Amazon best seller More Good Jobs: An Entrepreneur's Action Plan to Create Change In Your Community.
