Buffalo News published a letter to the editor from Unite NY volunteer Cassidy Baron highlighting the benefits of ranked-choice voting (RCV) and the growing statewide movement to expand voter choice.
“Ranked choice voting (RCV) would give Buffalo voters the opportunity to choose up to three candidates on their ballot, in ranked order. If more than two parties have a chance, runners would be more inclined to focus on their promises, rather than belittling an opponent’s, appealing to the demands of a wider population. This mindset could extend to citizens, encouraging community across political divides. Groups like Unite NY, a nonpartisan organization advocating for RCV statewide, show growing support for improving our political system and reducing division.”
