Unite NY was recently named the chair of the Western New York Ranked Choice Voting Coalition (WNYRCV).
The Western New York Ranked Choice Voting Coalition is a regional coalition of civic, advocacy, and community organizations working to advance ranked choice voting in Buffalo and Erie County.
Ranked choice voting allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference, helping ensure that election outcomes reflect majority support and encouraging broader participation. It is one of Unite NY’s core reform priorities.
“Unite NY is proud to support a broad coalition of organizations working to expand voter choice in Western New York,” said Anthony Thomas, executive director of Unite NY.
Unite NY assumes the role from fellow coalition member Partnership for the Public Good, whose leadership helped expand the coalition’s work across Western New York.
Participating organizations in the Western New York Ranked Choice Voting Coalition include: Bengal Votes Coalition, Buffalo Center for Health Equity, Buffalo Democratic Socialists of America, Clean Air Coalition of WNY, Common Cause NY, Healthcare Education Project, Hillel of Buffalo, League of Women Voters Buffalo-Niagara, NAACP Buffalo, Partnership for the Public Good, Unite NY, UB Votes Committee, VOICE Buffalo, WNY Election Protection Coalition, Buffalo Jewish Federation, Citizens Action of New York, Citizen Collab, and WNY Peace Center.
